Dove & Mother's Day



Happy Mother's day! Every son and daughter on this planet celebrates this 'emotional connect' occasion today.
In the current scenario of globalization, corporates stepped into our lives and started impacting every precious experience of ours.
To increase their business, with the help of market influencers and based on the culture of the geography they are targeting, corporates designated so many days of an year either to celebrate one or other occasion; Valentine's day, Bachelor's day, Father's day, Mother's day, etc.!
From corporate point of view, all these days are meant for business. However, from common man point of view, all these days are meant to connect with their special ones; highly emotional stuff.
But today, an exception happened. An advertisement from Dove (a multinational soap company) changed the above perception that corporates always think about their own profit making stuff. A simple single slide advertisement from this company, specially created for Mother's day occasion, gives importance to common man's emotions and relations.
The Dove advertisement says that originally the advertisement has to run for 3 precious minutes; but, they don't play the advertisement today. Why because, today being Mother's day, if you are busy watching your TV and forgot to greet your mother so far since morning then Dove gives you its advertisement time (3 minutes) by not displaying anything so that you can call your mother and wish her during those 3 minutes.
How sweet!
Dove might had played so many advertisements so far. But this one, a single slide advertisement, made a huge impactful difference today!
Maybe this is time that other corporates should also start thinking about the common man's emotions and relations.
